How to Apply PTFE Thread Seal Tape

Wrap the tape clockwise around the male thread, starting at the first thread. Overlap each pass by about half the tape width. Two to three wraps give good coverage for most standard connections. Consequently, the tape fills the thread profile and seals as the fitting is tightened.

Always make sure threads are clean and dry before applying the tape. In addition, do not stretch the tape too tightly, as this can cause it to tear or thin out unevenly. Overall, a neat, even wrap gives the most reliable joint.

Selection Advice

This 12mm width suits most standard pipe thread sizes used in domestic and light commercial plumbing. For larger threads, a wider tape may give better coverage.
